Timberline Manufacturing has appointed Randy Walter as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately.
The company conducted an extensive search after Tom Pientok announced his plans to retire. Walter was selected as the next CEO through the search process.
The company is confident that Walter’s vision and leadership experience will guide it into its next chapter of growth and innovation, the company’s board said in a statement announcing the appointment.
“This marks a significant milestone in our Company's journey,” said Timberline board of directors Chair Mike Gassmann. “We are confident that under Randy's leadership, we will continue to thrive and achieve new heights of success.”
Walter brings a wealth of senior leadership experience in manufacturing and distribution companies. He joined Timberline in 2021 as the Chief Financial Officer. During his tenure, Walter has been responsible for several financial, operational, and strategic enhancements.
Timberline Manufacturing — which employs about 220 people and is based in Marion — is a 100% employee-owned (ESOP) company with more than 30 years of experience in electrical contract manufacturing. Timberline specializes in wire harness assembly, control panels, electronics, and electromechanical assembly, with services including engineering support, prototyping, and testing.
Prior to joining Timberline, Walter served in C-level positions at midsized to large multinational companies in public, private and employee-owned structures, including his role as Chief Financial Officer for Apache, Inc. from 2012 — 2018. Walter has a proven track record of driving results and fostering a culture of excellence which aligns perfectly with the mission of providing stellar customer service.
“I am grateful for this opportunity to lead Timberline. We have an amazing group of employee-owners who are passionate about the Company and the customers we serve,” Walter said in a media release. “I also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Tom for his leadership and mentorship. I wish him all the best in his retirement.”
In his new role, Walter will lead Timberline in continuing to deliver exceptional service to our customers, enhancing our operational efficiency, and exploring new market opportunities. Under his leadership, the Company expects to further solidify its position as a leading contract manufacturer in the electronics and electromechanical segments.
Walter is a U.S. Army veteran and graduated from the University of Northern Iowa.
