Logisticus Projects Group, a logistics company based in Greenville, S.C., has begun operating a distribution center at the former Artco Fleeting Facility in Camanche. 'Logisticus Projects Group is operating a distribution center at the (Archer Daniels Midland) facility for primarily the wind energy industry ...
. This cargo supports the transport of large wind turbine blades that are being delivered throughout the Midwest,” Vikash Patel, president of Logisticus, said in an email.
The facility will start with 10 jobs, with the potential for more expansion if wind energy continues to grow.
'As wind energy grows in the Midwest, we would like to increase our employment drastically,” Patel said.
So why Camanche? According to Patel, the location was a good mix of multiple factors.
'The fact we have a great relationship with ADM drove us to this location,” he said. 'In addition, the area provided a large amount of skilled labor and is strategically located in the heart of the wind belt.”
Before the expansion, Logisticus worked with Camanche City Administrator Andrew Kida to learn more about Camanche and the area.
'They reached out to us to have us understand what they do,” Kida said. 'The folks that run that met with us at the CRDC and they gave us an outline of what they do and what their projections are.”
Those projections, according to Patel, potentially could make Logisticus a long-term fixture in Camanche. He said that the company would prefer to make it a permanent location but it will continue to depend on the expansion of renewable energy.
