Survey results show that 59 percent of Iowa entrepreneurs expect to hire more full-time workers in the next six months, according to the Entrepreneurs' Organization, a network of more than 8,000 business owners in 40 countries.
The survey, which included responses from 36 Iowa companies with at least $1 million in annual revenues, also found that 54 percent expect to hire more part-time workers iduring the same time.
Those surveyed said they believe the economy is moving in a positive direction, with 81 percent reporting positive feelings about starting a new business in the next six months.
These numbers are comparable to global numbers, which indicate that 67 percent of entrepreneurs around the world plan to hire more full-time workers and 54 percent plan to hire part-time workers.
'The results from the survey underscore that Iowa businesses are thriving despite the current economic climate,” said Entrepreneurs' Organization Iowa Chapter President Tim Danley in a news release. 'We expect our businesses to continue growing, and we expect the market to rebound in a positive way.”
The Global Entrepreneur Indicator is a survey taken twice each year by members of the Entrepreneurs' Organization, a membership-based non-profit with more 9,500 entrepreneurs across 40 countries. Collectively, these entrepreneurs employ more than 2.2 million workers and account for more than $565 billion in gross revenues each year.
