Iowa City's Micky's Irish Pub 'closed for repairs,' surrenders 21-only exemption

Jun. 5, 2012 10:25 am
Micky's Irish Pub & Grill, one of Iowa City's oldest restaurants, has closed its doors “for repairs,” although it's unclear how long the popular eatery will be shuttered.
A sign has been taped to the entrance of the restaurant and bar at 11 South Dubuque St. alerting customers that it is “closed for repairs.” Iowa City Clerk Marian Karr said the restaurant's ownership on May 16 surrendered its certificate exempting it from the city ordinance prohibiting establishments that sell mostly alcohol from allowing patrons under age 21 from entering after 10 p.m.
