CEDAR RAPIDS -- Inteconnex, a physical security provider and information technology systems integrator that was formerly part of Fastek International, has been spun off as a standalone company.
Inteconnex, which serves midsize customers nationwide, retained seasoned engineers and sales staff from Fastek and continues to add employees in Cedar Rapids, Des Moines and Omaha. The company has customers across the nation, primarily serving the Midwest with physical security and IT systems, incorporating elements such as cameras and facility access, data backup and cloud computing.
Marc Meyer, formerly a managing director of Fastek, is president and chief executive officer of Inteconnex. The company provides services for hospitals, banks, universities, as well as large commercial businesses.
Meyer said his company has an unusual approach to physical and information security that aligns with industry trends.
"More than ever, we are seeing the important role the network plays in a business. Advances like cloud computing and virtualization can even be utilized to improve physical security measures," Meyer said. "Business customers realize great savings and better results when our experienced engineers work with them to create an environment that leverages today's technology in a smarter, more integrated way across all facets of the business."
Inteconnex has completed physical security and information technology projects for customers such as MidWest One of Iowa City, Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids and the University of Nebraska.
The Entrepreneurial Development Center in Cedar Rapids has been assisting Meyer with the launch of the company for nearly a year and continues with ongoing work growing the company.
