The board of directors of Goodwill of the Heartland is planning a national search for a new president and chief executive officer following the resignation last week of Jeff Nock, who assumed leadership of the nonprofit organization in May 2008.
Nock, previously assistant vice president, marketing and product development for ACT In Iowa City, succeeded John Watson, who retired after guiding Goodwill of the Heartland for 29 years. At the time he joined Goodwill, Nock also served on the boards of directors of Shelter House and the Iowa City Community School District Foundation.
The agency served more than 5,200 individuals and families with barriers to independence in 2010 , with 341 people placed in community jobs and 931 clients on the Goodwill of the Heartland payroll.
