F&M Bank on Monday opened its 11th location with a new branch at Westdale in southwest Cedar Rapids.
The Manchester-based bank bought the triangle-shaped two-story, 3,100-square-foot building at 2350 Edgewood Road SW in October 2010 from Westdale Associates. F&M Bank also has Cedar Rapids offices at 200 First St. SW and 4000 First Ave. NE.
'We have been looking forward to opening this location for some time,” said Tim German, president of F&M Bank.
U.S. Bank, which leased the building from F&M Bank after the purchase, opened a new branch in September at 2310 Edgewood Road SW. F&M Bank has renovated the building, which houses seven offices and a newly furnished teller line.
'The construction process has gone very well,” said Senior Vice President Chad Kellogg. 'It's been a real pleasure to work with all the people involved with this project.”
German said the new branch will employ five or six people.
'We have those people already onboard, trained and ready to go,” he said. 'We've had a few extra bodies around the Cedar Rapids market for the last few months.
'There will be a mix of new people and others who have been around for a while. We're excited to have that location, where we serve customers on that side of town a little bit better.”
German said the Westdale branch will be open Monday through Saturday. It offers a full range of banking services including commercial, agricultural, residential real estate and consumer loans, checking and savings accounts, time deposits, Internet banking and safety deposit boxes.
F&M Bank, a locally owned financial institution for 90 years, has assets of more than $525 million. In addition to Cedar Rapids and Manchester, the bank has offices in Anamosa, Eagle Grove, Clarion, Goldfield, Monticello and Lino Lakes and Vadnais Heights, Minn.
