Flooding, heat now hurting some Iowa crops

“The second straight week of high heat and heavy humidity continued to present challenges for both crops and livestock,” Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey noted Tuesday as part of the department's weekly report. “Record rainfall in the Dubuque area on Wednesday night into Thursday morning also created some flash flooding that caused some damage to property and crops.”
While some areas along the Missouri River are seeing improvement in flooding with reduced water volume coming from upstream dams, the eastern part of Iowa saw flooding due to excessive rainfall.
