After a mere four months of existence in Clinton, rapper Flavor Flav's fried chicken restaurant business was closed for good as rumors that employee paychecks were bouncing began to circulate.
On Monday, the ill-fated restaurant received another blow as Iowa City-based Hawkeye Foodservice Distribution filed a lawsuit against Flav's former business partner and restaurant overseer Nicolo Cimino.
The lawsuit claims that Cimino was given an account with Hawkeye Foodservice Distribution for the restaurant on January 17, but had failed to pay over $12,000 worth of bills as of May 10.
Hawkeye Foodservice is looking to receive all of the restaurant's past-due payments with a 19.8 percent interest penalty, as well as reimbursement for costs incurred while carrying out the lawsuit.
Flavor Flav, born as William J. Drayton, Junior, rose to fame in the 1980s as a member of the rap group Public Enemy. He later grew in popuarity as a reality television star. Flav's Fried Chicken was his first attempt in the restaurant business.
