Five Corridor not-for-profits will receive a free website upgrade thanks to Geonetric, the Cedar Rapids-based health care technology company.
As part of Operation Overnight, now in its second year, five organizations were selected to receive a digital makeover - Child Family Community Partnership, Jane Boyd Community House, Oak Hill Cemetery Association, Science Center and Wheelchair Ramp Accessibility Program.
Along with new websites, the not-for-profits will receive training on how to maintain the site and how to use social media, according to Geonetric.
Applicants were asked to outline how receiving a new website would help them accomplish their organization's mission, according to Nicole Knoll, marketing coordinator for Geonetric.
"Community involvement is really important to Geonetric," Knoll said. "We were started in Cedar Rapids. We want to really be a part of the community that we're in, and we were just trying to think of new ways to get involved and really share our skill set with the community."
Last year Geonetric built sites for four not-for-profits.
"Throughout the entire past year we've had little check-ins with them to see their progress, and they would tell us about all the new volunteers they've gotten or the response they've had to the website, the donation numbers that have gone up," she added.
One of the sites that was part of the program last year,
Cancer Really Sucks, can be viewed here.
