Fire-damaged Tommy's West restaurant sure to reopen

Tommy's West restaurant, heavily damaged by fire last weekend at the Edgewood Plaza shopping center in Cedar Rapids, could be cooking again by Oct. 1.
Owner Jim Ashley said he the Saturday night fire caused heavy damage to the west side dining establishment, which will need a new roof, ceiling, carpeting, wiring, and probably some new fixtures. He expects the work to take about two months.
