MARION — Steven K. Neighbor has been named president and CEO of Marion-based Farmers State Bank.
He succeeds Gene R. Neighbor, his uncle, who has led the bank for the past decade.
Steven Neighbor, who’s been with FSB for 35 years, is the bank’s current executive vice president. His promotion marks a milestone for the family-owned bank as he becomes the third generation of the Neighbor family to lead FSB.
“Steve’s leadership reflects our values and commitment to the communities we serve. His expertise ensures FSB’s continued success as a locally owned and family-led institution,” Gene Neighbor said.
Gene Neighbor will continue with FSB by leading the wealth management division.
The bank’s board of directors noted in a news release that the bank under Gene Neighbor’s leadership expanded from $676 million in assets to more than $1 billion and also earned the distinction of being named a Top Workplace for eight consecutive years.
“Gene’s dedication and vision have been instrumental in shaping FSB into the thriving community financial institution it is today,” the board stated. “We are deeply grateful for his contributions and look forward to his continued impact at FSB.”
The Neighbor family has owned and led FSB since 1968. It has seven locations, including its main facility in Marion and offices in Collins Road Square, Edgewood Plaza Mall, Van Buren Village, Hiawatha, Alburnett and Tiffin.
