A federal appeals court has upheld a lower court's dismissal of hundreds of hostile work environment claims by women truck drivers involving CRST Expedited.
The decision by the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit means Cedar Rapids-based CRST cannot collect $4.4 million in legal and other expenses awarded by the lower court until the case is resolved. It also requires Chief United States District Judge Linda Reade, who dismissed the EEOC's claims in 2009, to reconsider claims by two of the drivers.
Dave Rusch, president and CEO of CRST Expedited's parent company, said CRST Expedited was pleased by the ruling. He said the appeals court "upheld 99 percent of the federal court's ruling."
