CEDAR RAPIDS = More than 150 people attended the Entrepreneurial Development Center's (EDC) July 12 Networking Event at MobileDemand's new headquarters in Hiawatha.
MobileDemand, an EDC client since its start in 2004, is a leading provider of rugged tablet computers used by mobile workers. MobileDemand's President, Matt Miller, recently moved the growing company's 22 employees into the new Tec Center in Hiawatha. The company also celebrated its open house and ribbon cutting with the Cedar Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce.
The EDC, a Cedar Rapids-based business accelerator, hosts six networking events annually to provide opportunities for area entrepreneurs to connect with other entrepreneurs, investors, vendors and community leaders. The July 12 event's crowd was the largest attendance at a regular event in the accelerator's eight-year history.
In addition to featuring MobileDemand's new space, the EDC event highlighted area Fastest Growing Companies recently recognized by the Corridor Business Journal.
“The attendance at this event is a testament to the community's support of an exciting, growing company like MobileDemand,” said Josie Heskje, EDC VP of Marketing. “The EDC has worked with MobileDemand since the company's launch and appreciates the risks entrepreneurs like Matt Miller take to create viable, growing businesses in Iowa. It is positive that our community also acknowledges the significance of locally-founded, scalable companies.”
