Drone company nabs $175,000 award

A California company that makes unmanned surveillance systems for the military and law enforcement will receive $175,000 from the Iowa Economic Development Board to build drones in Cedar Rapids.
AirCover Integrated Solutions Corp. was told of the award from the board via a telephone meeting Friday, according to a story on the Des Moines Register websit
The remote-controlled drones will weigh fewer than five pounds.
The University of Iowa's Operator Performance Laboratory will be involved in developing the drones.
The company will generate up to 20 jobs over three years, according to Priority One.
