Brucemore in Cedar Rapids announced the appointment of assistant director Maura Pilcher to the State Historical Society of Iowa board of trustees by Gov. Terry Branstad.
In addition to her role at Brucemore, Pilcher is also active in the preservation community as the chairwoman of the Cedar Rapids Historic Preservation Commission and the vice president of the Czech Village/New Bohemia Urban Main Street board.
The Cedar Rapids Fire Department promoted Gregory Smith to assistant fire chief. Smith will be chief of operations, overseeing battalion chiefs, shift fire captains and shift firefighters. He joined the Cedar Rapids Fire Department in 1994 and was promoted to battalion chief in February 2009.
Waypoint Services for Women Children and Families in Cedar Rapids elected the following to its board of directors: Kate Minette, Pearsons Reading Measurement, president; Stacie Osako, Van Meter Industrial; Vanessa Rogers, Cedar Rapids Downtown District; Cathy Terukina, SourceMedia Group; and Kristen Trovas, Merrill Lynch.
Cedar Rapids Rotary West elected its officers and board of directors for 2011-2012. Elections include Dana Nichols, Cedar Rapids Bank & Trust, president; and James Nelson, House of Carpets, first vice president.
