CORALVILLE — Integrated DNA Technologies, manufacturer of nucleic acids used in research and pharmaceutical development, has laid off 61 employees at its Coralville headquarters.
“Integrated DNA Technologies has made the intentional decision to restructure parts of our business, which includes refocusing resources, to sustain future growth and support our long-term business objectives. These measured changes reflect IDT’s ongoing transformation as a global leader in genomics and positions our business capabilities to evolve with changing customer demands,” said IDT in a statement provided to the Gazette.
IDT was founded by University of Iowa researchers back in 1987. The company was acquired by its parent company, Danaher corporation, in 2018.
At the time of the acquisition, the company had 770 employees working at its Coralville office. IDT did not provide an updated number of Iowa employees to the Gazette.
Iowa’s Workforce Adjustment and Retraining Notification filings reported that the layoffs took effect Dec. 12 and employees were notified that day.
“Any change we make at IDT is thoughtfully planned and considered to ensure uninterrupted service to customers, support for employees and strengthened business capabilities. In Iowa, 4.7% of our workforce have been affected, and associates have been provided with severance and support packages consistent with company policies. These efforts reflect how we are realigning resources and investments to deliver on shifting customer needs worldwide,” said IDT’s statement.
In addition to Coralville, the company has manufacturing locations in California, Belgium and Singapore.
