Iowa City-based Chomp said on social media Tuesday it will discontinue its restaurant-to-home delivery service in Cedar Rapids effective Aug. 15.
“Even while our Iowa City/Coralville/North Liberty area delivery has been highly successful, we unfortunately have not seen the same results in Cedar Rapids,” the company posted.
“After two years of attempting to get a foothold in the Cedar Rapids market, Chomp has decided that our past strategy isn’t effective in today’s market.”
This past October, noting the rise in pandemic-related home delivery, Adam Weeks, co-founder and managing member of Chomp, said, “Our 2019 Friday night has become our 2021 Tuesday.”
Grubhub and DoorDash will continue to provide delivery services in Cedar Rapids.
Questions about Chomp’s decision were to be directed to support@chomp.zendesk.com, according to the post.
