IOWA CITY — Chase bank will expand into Eastern Iowa by opening a branch in downtown Iowa City later this year.
The Iowa City office, at 300 S. Clinton St., will be on the first floor of the Edge, a mixed-use commercial and residential building.
The location is anticipated to open in December, said Majda Hadzic, market director of banking for Chase.
New York-based JPMorgan Chase is the largest bank in the country. It has three locations in Iowa — one in West Des Moines and two in Des Moines. Another Des Moines location is expected to open in early 2023.
Hadzic said expanding to Iowa City is an “important market” as the company seeks to grow in Iowa.
“We’re excited by the city’s vibrant economy, strong small business community and, of course, the passionate student population, many of whom are already Chase customers through our popular credit card products,” Hadzic said.
The Iowa City office will have eight to 10 employees and play a minimum wage of $20 per hour, Hadzic said.
“We look forward to opening our doors to what will be a beautiful retail space that serves all manner of financial services needs and will feel different from a typical bank,” Hadzic said.
