Cedar Rapids is ranked No. 8 on Money magazine's list of 25 cities "where homes are affordable."
The list, released Monday, shows Cedar Rapids with a median home price of $106,560 and median family income of $66,227. The ranking looks at a variety of factors in addition to the median price of a home, such as math and reading test scores, the state income tax rate and the annual premium for auto insurance.
In 2010, Cedar Rapids was ranked No. 11 on Money magazine's list of cities "where homes are affordable."
Cedar Rapids consistently ranks as one of the top communities in which to live, work, play and raise a family. The community in recent years was named one of “America's 10 Best Places to Grow Up” by U.S. News and World Report, called one of the “Best Places for Business and Careers” by Forbes magazine and was ranked No. 4 on a list of “Next Cities” with a population between 100,000 and 200,000 by Next Generation Consulting.
