NEW HIRES
Tami Zumbach (see photo) has joined Hills Bank and Trust Co. as a real estate loan officer at the Cedar Rapids Southwest branch.
Adam Scheer (see photo) has joined Hall & Hall Engineers as a civil engineer. He is a graduate of the University of Iowa.
Matthew Felling has been appointed complex general manager of the Doubletree by Hilton at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids. Felling most recently was general manager of the Embassy Suites St. Louis Downtown.
Kurt S. Nilsson has joined Terracon's Cedar Rapids office as the environmental department manager. He has more than 23 years experience.
Lauren Cilek (see photo) was hired by Shive-Hattery in Iowa City as an architectural designer.
Community Savings Bank named Nate Vriezelaar (see photo) as vice president of commercial lending for Linn County. Vriezelaar has more than 10 years of commercial finance experience.
Financial Advisor Todd Barker has joined the Seifert Trovas Group in the Merrill Lynch Cedar Rapids office. Barker joined Merrill Lynch in 2011.

AWARDS
Melissa Emerson (see photo), an assurance associate with CliftonLarsonAllen in Cedar Rapids, has been honored with a Certificate of Excellence and the Capstone Award given by the Iowa Society of Certified Public Accountants.
The Cedar Rapids charter chapter of the American Business Women's Association named Wanda Johnson (see photo) of At Your Service Corridor Community as Woman of the Year and Rose Slaymaker (see photo) of Nemec Marketing as Top 10 Candidate.
Hogan Capital Management Inc. was awarded Firm of the Year and an award for Top Five Firms (for firms with 4 to 8 partners). The awards were presented at the HK Financial Services annual conference.
For the 29th consecutive year, Shive-Hattery has earned a spot on the Engineering News Record Top 500 Design Firms list. Shive-Hattery was ranked number 232, jumping 20 spots from number 257 in 2010.
Environmental Excellence awards will be presented by Gov. Terry Branstad June 28 at the Wallace Building in Des Moines. Kirkwood Community College and Quaker Foods and Snacks, a division of PepsiCo, both of Cedar Rapids, will receive the Environmental Excellence Award. Special recognition in Waste Management will go to Kirkwood Community College and in Energy Efficiency/Renewable Energy to the Buchanan County Conservation Board in Hazleton and Trees Forever in Marion.

Cedar Rapids-based Central Iowa Power Cooperative's work for its employees' long-term financial security led to the company being featured in the Harvard Business Review Study Survey.
