Hills Bank has promoted Shani Morgan to vice president, retirement plan service center manager, in the Marion office.
Appointments
Urban Acres real estate agent Shaner Magalhaes of Iowa City has been named the 2024 president of the Iowa Association of Realtors, a trade association representing more than 8,200 real estate professionals in the state.
The Linn County Early Childhood Iowa Board named the following as governance board members: Haley Desmond, Shawn Knighton, Katie Marshall, Katheryn Paulsen and Kirsten Running-Marquardt. The board also named the following as officers: Rev. Pastor Patrick Munyakazi, chair; Richard Barrett, chair-elect; Megan Waterman, secretary; and Drew Westberg, board member at large.
Justin Haas has been appointed to the board of directors at the Marion Independent School Foundation & Alumni Association.

SNYDER RIBBON CUTTING: A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, at the new office for Snyder & Associates, 900 Bell Dr. SW in Cedar Rapids. The company is a multidisciplinary civil and structural engineering, planning and design firm with clients throughout the Midwest and nationwide. It built its new facility after outgrowing its previous space.
FREEDOM FEST OPEN HOUSE: The Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival invites the community to an open house at the nonprofit’s new location in Veterans Memorial Building on the First Avenue Bridge, beginning at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26. Guided tours, giveaways, and a ribbon cutting is planned with the Metro Area Economic Alliance Ambassadors.
NETWORKING: SCORE in-person workshops for networking and business skills will be held Thursday, Oct. 26, in Cedar Rapids. The workshops will be presented from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at Scott’s Family Restaurant, 1906 Blairs Ferry Rd. NE, and from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Chrome Horse, 1201 Third St. SE.
