The Linn County Board of Health announced winners of its fourth-annual Healthy Worksite Wellness Award program, which were based on employee size: Cedar Rapids/Linn County Solid Waste Agency (fewer than 50 employees), Lil' Drug Store Products (50-99 employees), Midwest Metal Products (100-249 employees), Source Media/The Gazette (250-750 employees) and St. Luke's Hospital (more than 750 employees). An honorable mention award went to Van Meter Industrial for receiving the second highest score among all 35 businesses.
The Carl & Mary Koehler History Center in Cedar Rapids was awarded the 2012 Golden Silo Award from the Silos & Smokestacks National Heritage Area.
Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery and Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids was featured in the March-April issue of the International Cemetery, Cremation & Funeral Association Magazine.
Meetings and Seminars
A free Jobs Lab will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Monday at the Technology Center classroom of the Cedar Rapids Public Library, 2600 Edgewood Rd. SW.
Job Seeker Support Group, a volunteer-based group designed to help those actively seeking work, will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Cedar Rapids Public Library.
The Greater Iowa chapter of the National Contract Management Association will host its 31st spring Acquisition Seminar from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Hotel at Kirkwood Center, 7725 Kirkwood Blvd. SW, Cedar Rapids. Tim Peterson, senior director for Rockwell Collins government operations in Washington, D.C., will be the keynote speaker.
The Higher Education Connection, a consortium comprised of local economic-development professionals and career services centers from the University of Iowa, Coe College, Cornell College, Mount Mercy University and Kaplan University, will host a panel for area employers on establishing internship programs from 7:45 to 9 a.m. Thursday at the Clark Alumni House, Coe College in Cedar Rapids.
