Awards

Two projects won 2011 Excellence in Concrete Awards for Eastern Iowa companies. They were, in the Commercial/Industrial Decorative Flatwork category, Upper Iowa University Student Center in Fayette, with Manatts Inc. of Oelwein, as the ready mixed concrete producer and Wicks Construction Inc. of Decorah, as concrete subcontractor; and in the Residential Decorative Flatwork category, Bloomhall Decorative Patio in Cedar Rapids, with King's Material Inc. of Cedar Rapids as ready mixed concrete producer, Bloomhall Construction of Marion as general contractor, Kelly Concrete Co. Inc. of Marion as concrete subcontractor, and Aspect Inc. of Cedar Rapids as architect/designer.

Advanced Waste Services Inc., with an operation in Cedar Rapids, received two safety achievement awards from its insurer, Raffles Insurance Ltd. AWS - the Fleet Safety Award and with the Gold Safety Award for its achievement of the highest total point score in the heavy-duty specialty category.

St. Luke's Hospital was named a 2011/2012 Consumer Choice Award winner in a survey conducted by the National Research Corp. of Lincoln, Neb.
