For the third consecutive year, Gale Mote Associates was selected for the 2011 Best of Cedar Rapids Award in the Industrial & Labor Consulting Services category by the U.S. Commerce Association. The USCA Best of Local Business Award Program recognizes outstanding local businesses.
The Iowa City Ambulatory Surgical Center was the recipient of the 2010/2011 APEX Quality Award rewarded by CTQ Solutions. The award recognizes leading health care providers for excellence in patient satisfaction and delivery of care that fell within the top 10 percent.

CRST International Inc. was ranked 19th on this year's InformationWeek 500, a list of the top U.S. technology innovators. This is the fourth consecutive year CRST has been on the list.
Aspen Institute named Northeast Iowa Community College as one of the top 10 community colleges in the country, citing its relationships with business and industry. The school also received a $1.1 million grant from the Economic Development Administration for the creation of a business and industry training center on the Calmar campus.

Opening

Apache Hose and Belting Co. Inc. purchased Hillsboro, Ore.-based Seals Unlimited Inc. Seals Unlimited is a manufacturer of rubber extrusion, rubber moldings, gaskets and hydraulic gate seals for both government and private industries.

A Community Shred Day will be held 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Veridian Credit Union, 2810 Edgewood Rd. SW, Cedar Rapids; and Hy-Vee, 812 S. First Ave., Iowa City.
