1000 Friends of Iowa announced the winners of the 2011 Best Development Awards, designed to recognize development projects that reflect the principles of smart growth and sustainable development. In Eastern Iowa, the Municipal Marina and Visitor Center, Guttenberg, won in the new commercial/civic category.
Seminars

Truck Country will move to a new 40,000-square-foot facility at 8415 Sixth St. SW, Cedar Rapids, on Nov. 14.

Westergaard marketing agency, through clients ACT Inc. and the Manufacturing Institute, is partnering with the President's Council on Jobs and Competitiveness to market the Right Skills Now initiative, a job skills training program for the manufacturing sector. Westergaard's work on the initiative started with establishing the brand's identity.
