New hires
Matthew M. Spading (see photo) joined Farmers State Bank's newly expanded trust division as vice president-trust officer. Spading's previous experience includes serving as a federal examiner and an internal bank auditor.
Promotions
Community Savings Bank promoted Lisa Maiers (see photo) to vice president. Maiers, in the Dyersville branch, has been with the bank 17 years. Brett Nagel (see photo) was promoted to senior vice president. Nagel has been vice president-senior commercial lender for Community Savings Bank in Edgewood.
Hills Bank and Trust Co. announced several recent promotions. EmmyLou Houston (see photo) was promoted to vice president-real estate lender in the Coralville office. Chris Jenn (see photo) was promoted to vice president-real estate lender in the Iowa City South Gilbert Street office. Kim Snyder (see photo) is now real estate closing officer in the Coralville office.
Dianne Schultz (see photo) was named executive director of Allen Home Care by Allen Health System and Iowa Health Home Care. She will continue to serve as executive director of Allen Medical Services and Care Coordination.
Board members
Shilo Knapp (see photo) of Rockwell Collins accepted the appointment to serve as the United Way's Young Leader Society's vice chairman in fiscal year 2013, which starts July 1. Wendy Nielsen (see photo), Cedar Rapids Bank & Trust, will replace Brandi Mueller as chairwoman.
Dustin Arnold (see photo) of St. Luke's Hospital was elected president of the Linn County Medical Society.
David Johnson (see photo), who practices chiropractic in Cedar Rapids, was sworn in as a district director for the 2012-2013 Iowa Chiropractic Society board of directors.
Terry Cooper (see photo) of Acterra Group Inc. in Marion was elected as the 2012 president of Steel Tank Institute/Steel Plate Fabricators Association.

For the fifth consecutive year, Future Systems Inc. has been selected for the 2012 Best of Cedar Rapids Award in the Payroll Service category by the U.S. Commerce Association. This is the first year that a business has qualified as a Five-Time Award Winner.
Oaknoll Retirement Residence in Iowa City achieved Pathway to Excellence in Long-Term Care designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
WRH Inc. in Amana was recognized by Star Buildings Systems as the recipient of Star's President Club award for cumulative sales and volume achievements.

“Using Technology to Improve Cash Flow” will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Marion Public Library, 1095 Sixth Ave. It is part of the Metro Library Network SCORE Small Business Series.
A “Spring Brush Up Seminar” will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Atrium, Coral West Health Center, 2769 Heartland Dr., Coralville. Financial Strategies Educational Series, “The Need for Income Protection,” will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Marion Public Library as part of the Financial Strategies Educational Series. The free session goes over the need for disability income.
Expansion
Core Fitness, a full service health club with locations in Iowa City and North Liberty, is adding a third facility at 2220 Mormon Trek Blvd., Iowa City. The business will be open through May but will close June through August for renovations.
