Business Breakfast Series to look at Iowa’s physician shortage

The Business Breakfast Series, presented by The Gazette, kicks off Feb. 25 with a panel discussion on the physician shortage in Iowa.
Six breakfast panels are scheduled this year, with three in Cedar Rapids and three in Iowa City.
Zack Kucharski, The Gazette’s executive editor, will moderate the panels.
The panelists at the first breakfast will discuss what is being done to address the physician shortage in Iowa and how that impacts patients, particularly ones in rural areas. The panelists are:
- Dr. Dustin Arnold, chief medical officer at UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s Hospital.
- Dr. Fadi Yacoub, chair of the Linn County Medical Society.
- Dr. Timothy Quinn, president and CEO of Mercy Cedar Rapids.
The breakfast begins at 8 a.m. Feb. 25 at the Geonetric building, 415 12th Ave. SE. Doors open at 7:30 a.m. Those wishing to attend can register in advance at https://tinyurl.com/33hrxt3v or pay $5 at the door.
Season pass tickets also are available. The three Cedar Rapids business breakfasts will be Feb. 25, May 6 and Sept. 9, all at Geonetric. The three Iowa City business breakfasts will be March 25, July 15 and Dec. 2, all at MERGE, 136 S. Dubuque St.
