Burlington Trailways moves to new office near the airport

CEDAR RAPIDS -- Regional bus travelers began boarding the Burlington Trailways coach at a new location beginning Friday, May 13, at The Eastern Iowa Airport.

The new office is located at 2816 Lippisch Place SW, west of Arthur Collins Parkway SW. The Burlington Trailways office and depot was located in the passenger terminal of the airport since June 2008 after the Ground Transportation Center in downtown Cedar Rapids was flooded.

Burlington Trailways and airport officials reached an agreement to relocate the regional bus lines' office to make space for a new baggage handling and inspection system. The latter project will return passengers to the practice of checking their luggage at the ticket counter as they did before the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Cedar Rapids transit officials are planning a new bus stop at the corner of Arthur Collins Parkway and Lippisch Place SW to accommodate riders arriving or leaving on Burlington Trailways.
