What was the last book you read?
“How Do I Love You?” by Marion Dane Bauer. It's a storybook that my 15-month-old daughter can't get enough of.
Even though I end up reading it multiple times in one sitting, I would never trade the cuddle time. Plus, the message couldn't be more perfect.
Where is your favorite place to get away?
Minnesota - shopping. Need I say more?
What's the best day of the week to be in a meeting? What's the best time of day?
Tuesday, 9 a.m. Monday is always a scramble to get your week lined up, so a meeting feels like an interruption. There are too many distractions midweek, and by the end of the week, well, all anyone is thinking about is the weekend and what they need to accomplish before the clock strikes 5.
What do you always have close at hand at your desk?
Caffeine and ChapStick.
Did you start out in this line of work?
Yes, I did. In fact, my first internship in college was for a marketing/PR firm. I thought I'd be coaching college basketball.
How did you happen to come to live and work in Eastern Iowa?
I grew up in Eastern Iowa, and after living in New York for a few years away from family and friends I decided that if I could find a career that I enjoyed waking up to every morning that's close to my roots, that's where I'd call home. Plus there's no better place to raise a family.
Did you have a job while you were in school?
I played Division 1 basketball - does that count? Our coaches wouldn't allow us to work, but I promise, it felt like a full-time job!
I did take on an unpaid internship a few hours a week my junior and senior year, however.
