Alliant foundation names 22 C.R.-area grant recipients

The Alliant Energy Foundation contributed $66,700 to 22 Cedar Rapids area organizations in the second of three 2011 grant cycles, the foundation said on Wednesday, Sept. 21.
Grants ranged from $300 to $7,500 and were given to help fund a variety of community-based initiatives and projects. For example, a $900 grant was given to Miracles in Motion Handicapped Horseman, Inc. in support of their therapeutic riding program for disabled individuals and a $3,000 grant was awarded to Foundation 2, Inc. toward the purchase of a security system for their Crisis Center facility.
“The Alliant Energy Foundation Community Grants Program annually provides grants to over 600 deserving non-profit groups throughout our utility service territory,” said Tom Aller, Alliant Energy Foundation President. “We are pleased to support these charitable efforts in the Cedar Rapids area.”
