Airport commission appointment approved by city council

The Cedar Rapids City Council has approved Mayor Ron Corbett's appointment of Marcia Rogers to the Cedar Rapids Airport Commission, which operates the city-owned Eastern Iowa Airport.

Rogers will fill a seat being vacated by Dee Baird, president and CEO of the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance. Baird, vice chairwoman of the commission, was appointed in June 2007 and served two three-year terms.

Rogers, principal of SmartVote Services, a division of The AdTrack Corp. in Cedar Rapids, will begin a three-year term on July 1. She will join Commissioners Carroll Reasoner (chairwoman), Pat Baird, Tom Hobson and Josh Schamberger.

Rogers is a member of the Advisory Council on International Economic Policy at the U.S. Department of State. She served on the Iowa Department of Economic Development Board from 2001 through 2011.

Rogers serves on the St. Luke's Hospital board of directors and is an elected trustee of Kirkwood Community College. She was recently appointed to the Iowa State University Research Foundation Board in Ames.
