CEDAR RAPIDS — The annual Good Morning Cedar Rapids breakfast, with presentation of the Bravo and Community Spotlight awards, will be held Nov. 6 from 7 to 9 a.m. at the Double Tree by Hilton Cedar Rapids Convention Complex.
The breakfast is hosted by the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance. Tickets can be purchased before Nov. 1 at cedarrapids.org/economic-alliance-events/good-morning-cedar-rapids/.
Clare Duffy and Eric Hanson of KZIA Z102.9/Morning Scramble will emcee, with the help of musical acts and entertainment.
This year’s Bravo awards will go to Almost Famous Popcorn, Altorfer Machinery Co., Bloomsbury Farm and Rapids Wholesale Equipment Co.
Almost Famous Popcorn has been committed to delivering “Moments that Pop!” to everyone who opens an Almost Famous bag or gift box. They deliver their famous taste through premium ingredients crafted in small batches, according to an economic alliance news release.
Altorfer Machinery Co. was founded on Feb, 4, 1957, by the late Edward J. Altorfer. His son Derek has been the company’s president since 2017. The company has 38 locations, including in Cedar Rapids. The business carries Caterpillar’s full line of construction and mining equipment, work tools, power systems and lift trucks. In addition, it is an authorized dealer for Mitsubishi forklifts, JLG telehandlers, FENDT and CLAAS agricultural equipment and Trail King trailers, according to the economic alliance.
Bloomsbury Farm was homesteaded in Atkins 1856, with Dave Petersen, the fifth generation to take over the farm. He and his wife, Karen, started an agritourism business at the farm in 1994, with their daughters, Jessica and Samantha, now “a big part of the business,” the economic alliance said in the news release. Bloomsbury Farm offers seasonal and year-round activities and events.
Started in 1936, Rapids Wholesale Equipment Co. of Marion aims to be a one-stop shop for food service, offering bar and beverage supplies, commercial refrigeration and kitchen equipment, janitorial supplies and restaurant furniture.
This year’s Community Spotlight recipients are Uptown Marion Redevelopment, which is driving growth and historic preservation in the Uptown area and throughout the city of 42,000; Tanager LGBTQ+ Center, which provides a safe and confidential environment for LGBTQ+ youth, families and their allies; and Mirrorbox Theatre, which produces Iowa-premiere plays.
The presenting sponsor for this year’s Good Morning Cedar Rapids program is Cedar Rapids Bank & Trust, with Wellmark and ITC as supporting sponsors.
