U.S. Rep. Dave Loebsack today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture has approved a guaranteed loan of $3,250,000 to the Maquoketa Valley Rural Electric Cooperative.
“It is vital that our rural communities have the tools and resources they need, and I congratulate Maquoketa Valley Rural Electric Cooperative for receiving this loan,” said Loebsack. “These funds will allow the Cooperative to build and upgrade their distribution line to better serve rural consumers, as well as encourage growth and economic development for the benefit of rural Iowans.”
The loan will serve 635 consumers, build and improve 252 miles of distribution line, and make other system improvements in Buchanan, Clayton, Clinton, Delaware, Dubuque, Jackson, Jones, Cedar, and Linn Counties. The loan amount includes $220,000 in smart grid projects.
