Family of kidnapping victim issues statement

The family of kidnapping victim Amanda Daniel has issued a statement today:
The family would to thank the media for respecting their privacy at this time. They request that the media continue to respect their privacy and will not be issuing any statements except through the Cedar Rapids Police Department and will not be doing any interviews until the conclusion of the trial.
The family would like the public to know that Amanda Daniel is a loving and caring young woman that likes to make people smile. She is an amazing and strong woman who is a survivor. The family is very proud of her will to survive. And the family hopes that what happened to Amanda will be a lesson to other victims to turn their fear into the determination to live.
The family will continue to surround Amanda with the love and support to help her through this time in her life.
Amanda Daniel was taken by force on May 17, 2010, at about 4:00 a.m., from her place of employment at Kwik Shop, 1001 1 Ave west. Officers had been sent to check on the welfare of the Clerk who was Amanda Daniel,19.
