Join libraries in schools, campuses and communities nationwide in celebrating National Library Week today through Saturday.
In honor of this week, the Cedar Rapids Public Library has compiled this list of 25 ways to celebrate:
1. Get assistance with job searches, resume writing, interviewing tips.
2. Finish a school project.
3. Use free Wi-Fi.
4. Pick up a DVD to watch at home.
5. Attend Anime Club.
6. Attend toddler or story time with your child.
7. Plan a family afternoon for free.
8. Build young readers' self esteem by letting them read to a dog.
9. Use a computer to apply for a job or check out materials to study for a certification exam.
10. Learn a new language.
11. Get help with homework.
12. Book a meeting room.
13. Check out your favorite graphic novel.
14. Check out music or download it for free from the library's website.
15. Find tips to build a retirement nest egg, access online investment guides.
16. Get redecorating ideas.
17. Broaden your world by checking out cookbooks from other cultures.
18. Borrow or download an audio book.
19. See an art exhibit.
20. Download an e-book.
21. Get help downloading an e-book.
22. Find a new hobby.
23. Research your family tree.
24. Check out a book on learning how to fix that leaky faucet or use one of the online databases to get complete how-to guides.
25. Find a quiet spot, curl up with a good book and enjoy.
