[Women's Basketball] Win streak moves to five

MOUNT VERNON, Iowa -- With two more wins at the Cornell Classic over the weekend, the 25th-ranked Mount Mercy women's basketball team has won five games in a row heading into the Radisson Roseville Classic this Friday and Saturday in St. Paul, Minn.
Four Mustangs hit double figures in a 66-58 victory over Carroll (Wis.) on Friday at the Small Multi-Sport Center. Senior guard Laura Lippert led the way with 15 points, a game-high nine rebounds and three steals. Senior guard Micha Mims added 13 points and three steals, senior guard Ashley Koch 10 points, eight boards, four assists and three steals.
Sophomore forward Amanda Frost finished with 10 points and seven rebounds, while senior guard Becca Lampe had a game-high six assists and four steals. Mount Mercy forced 23 turnovers, collected 16 steals, outrebounded the Pioneers, 40-36, and went 16-of-19 at the free throw line. Breann Maryanski led Carroll with 15 points and eight boards. Janelle Groer chipped in 12 points and five assists, Kelly Menden 10 points.
The Mustangs (5-2) shot 60 percent from the field, including an 18-of-29 performance from 3-point range, in a 100-51 rout of Aurora (Ill.) on Saturday. Senior guard Emily Greiner drilled six treys during a 31-point afternoon. She has scored 26 points or more in five of Mount Mercy's seven games, and it was the second time this season Greiner has gone over the 30-point mark. Junior guard Brooke Quigley added 16 points and seven rebounds, Lampe 13 points and nine boards.
Freshman guard Danielle Herdliska finished with a career-high 11 points, three rebounds and three assists. Lippert posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards to go along with six assists. Mims and Greiner also finished with six assists apiece, and the Mustangs tallied assists on 26 of their 34 field goals. Mount Mercy also held a huge advantage on the glass, outrebounding the Spartans by a 47-23 margin.
The Mustangs travel to St. Paul, Minn., this weekend for the Radisson Roseville Classic hosted by Concordia (Minn.). They face the host Golden Bears on Friday at 4:00 p.m. and Minnesota Crookston on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
