[Women's Basketball] Sharp shooting Mustangs take out Warriors

FOREST CITY, Iowa -- The Mount Mercy offense led the way again, shooting better than 50 percent from the field for the second straight game in an 85-75 victory at Waldorf in Midwest Collegiate Conference women's basketball on Thursday at Hanson Fieldhouse.
The Mustangs led by only two at halftime, 38-36, and trailed briefly in the early moments of the second period before an 18-3 run midway through the second half put the game away. Mount Mercy (15-11, 9-3 MCC), which swept the season series with Waldorf (3-20, 1-11 MCC), has now won three straight and nine of their last 11 games.
Junior guard Emily Greiner led the Mustangs in scoring for the 12th time this season, draining four 3-pointers during a 25-point night. Junior guard Becca Lampe had a season-high 17 points and seven rebounds, while junior guard Ashley Koch contributed 11 points, eight boards, and five assists. Junior guard Micha Mims and senior forward Tonya Davis added 11 points each.
Jessica Aakre scored 21 points and dished out six assists for the Warriors. Aubrey Draves chipped in 19 points and five rebounds, Shayna Geitzenauer 17 points and six boards, and Samantha Boje seven assists.
Mount Mercy hosts Ashford in league play on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Hennessey Recreation Center. The Mustangs handled the Saints (4-21, 1-10 MCC), 73-57, on Jan. 8 in Clinton.
