KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Mount Mercy senior guards Emily Greiner and Micha Mims are NAIA Division II women's basketball all-Americans and senior forward Bria Fields was named second-team all-tournament at last week's national championship, the NAIA announced.
Greiner and Mims were third-team all-America selections. Greiner, a first-team all-Midwest Collegiate Conference pick for the second year in a row, was Mount Mercy's leading scorer and ranked 17th in the nation at 18.0 points per game. She also hit 100 3-pointers this season, which was third in NAIA Division II and set the Mustangs' single-season mark. Greiner tied the career record for 3-pointers as well (260).
Mims, an honorable mention all-American as a junior, was second on the team in scoring with 14.4 points per contest while leading the squad in assists (2.8 apg), steals (1.9 spg) and free throw percentage (83.1%). Her 83 treys were 11th in the country and she ranked 10th in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage (40.3%). Mims and Greiner both joined the 1,000-point club during the season.
Fields helped Mount Mercy reach the quarterfinals of the NAIA Division II National Championship in Sioux City last week, averaging 19 points and 8.3 rebounds in three games at the Tyson Events Center. She opened the tournament with 18 points and five boards in a 69-67 win over Southwestern (Kan.). Fields added 20 points and 12 rebounds in Mount Mercy's 79-72 victory over Morningside and 19 points and eight boards in an 81-76 loss to Briar Cliff.
Mount Mercy finished the season 27-9 overall and qualified for the national tournament for the first time since 1994-95. The Mustangs were runner-up in the MCC with a 15-3 league mark and reached the championship game of the conference tournament before advancing to the NAIA Division II quarterfinals.
