KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Mount Mercy extended its winning streak to six games last week and held steady at No. 13 in this week's NAIA Division II Women's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll, the national office announced on Monday afternoon.
For the ninth consecutive poll, Indiana Wesleyan (26-2) remained the top-ranked team in the country. At No. 2 is Concordia (Neb.) (26-2), followed by No. 3 College of the Ozarks (Mo.) (24-3), No. 4 Morningside (22-6), No. 5 Concordia (Mich.) (24-4), No. 6 Davenport (Mich.) (24-4), Jamestown (N.D.) (24-3) and Northwestern (20-6) at No. 7, No. 9 Grand View (23-5) and No. 10 Corban (Ore.) (19-6).
Briar Cliff (20-8) is 11th with 240 points and Cardinal Stritch (Wis.) (23-5), whom Mount Mercy defeated on the road in December, is 12th with 235 points. The Mustangs sit 13th with 228 points and St. Thomas (Fla.) (20-5) is 14th with 214.
The Mustangs (21-7, 13-3 MCC) reached the 20-win mark for the third time in four years after victories over St. Ambrose and AIB last week. Mount Mercy faces a tough road test at Iowa Wesleyan on Wednesday night. The winner will likely be runner-up to Grand View and earn the No. 2 seed in the MCC Tournament later this month. The Mustangs and Tigers square off at 5:30 p.m. at Ruble Arena in Mount Pleasant.
