The Iowa City West boys’ basketball team that ended the regular season exactly a week ago with a pretty horrid double-digit loss at Dubuque Senior wasn’t the Iowa City West boys’ basketball team that played Friday night. The Trojans were relatively healthy, locked in and ended up blowing away Davenport North, 90-50, in a Class 4A substate semifinal at West.
Iowa City West’s Diego Robertty reached the championship match in his first opportunity and Cedar Rapids Prairie’s Louden Bloxham made a run to the title bout in his last chance. Both finished as state runners-up at the Class 3A state wrestling tournament Saturday at Casey’s Center in Des Moines.
Saturday night at the Casey’s Center, all of that work paid, Parmater outlasted Solon’s second-seeded Anderson Osgood, 4-0, flexing and smiling as the Vikings’ fans showered his with cheers and applause.
