A couple of guys intended to play major roles on this season’s Cedar Rapids Xavier boys basketball team didn’t play Friday night due to injuries. The Saints, who will be a main contender for the Class 3A state championship when healthy, found a way to get past scrappy Cedar Rapids Washington, 67-57.
The Cougars claimed 10 weights and defeated Iowa City Liberty, 54-21, in a boys wrestling dual Thursday night at Kennedy. Liberty won the girls’ dual, 62-18.
