Oglesby, Uthoff pick up more offers

May. 10, 2010 3:48 pm
Cedar Rapids Washington junior basketball shooter Josh Oglesby picked up a recent scholarship offer from Boston College, Washington Coach Brad Metzger said Monday. Meanwhile, Cedar Rapids Jefferson junior forward Jarrod Uthoff has received recent offers from Illinois and Butler.
It's at least the seventh offer for the 6-foot-5 Oglesby, who has seen his recruitment pick up significant steam this spring. Oglesby's other offers are from Northern Iowa, Arizona State, Albany, Indiana State, Creighton and South Dakota State.
First-year Boston College Coach Steve Donahue was in Cedar Rapids a couple of weeks ago to watch Oglesby play in an open gym.
"He watched a lot of films of Josh, too," Metzger said. "They ran similar things as we did offensively at Cornell (where Donahue was this past season) ... He was impressed with Josh's ability to play the whole game. To pass the ball, dribble the ball, shoot the ball."
Metzger said Oglesby also made recent unofficial visits to Minnesota and Notre Dame, who have not offered him as yet.
The 6-foot-8 Uthoff has additional offers from Indiana, Indiana State, Northern Iowa, Iowa State, Creighton, Albany, Northern Colorado and Arizona State.
Jefferson Coach
Stu Ordman said he thinks Uthoff will wait until at least the end of June to make his commitment.
