Mustangs capitalize on Warrior turnovers in league win

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- The Mount Mercy women's basketball team scored more than half their points off Waldorf turnovers and defeated the Warriors, 85-57, in a Midwest Collegiate Conference game on Wednesday at Hennessey Recreation Center.
The Mustangs (8-9, 3-1 MCC) finished with 16 steals and forced 32 turnovers by the Warriors (3-10, 1-2 MCC). They were able to turn those miscues into 48 points while reaching the 80-point mark for the sixth time this season.
Junior guard Ashley Koch led four Mustangs in double figures with 17 points to go along with eight rebounds and four assists. Junior guard Emily Greiner scored all 15 points from 3-point range and finished with seven boards and three steals.
Junior guard Micha Mims added 13 points, four rebounds, four assists, and five steals, while junior forward Bria Fields chipped in 12 points and four assists. Senior guard Kadie Carman had eight points and four assists for the Mustangs.
Samantha Boje was the lone Warrior in double digits with 16 points in 13 minutes off the bench. Aubrey Draves tallied nine points, Katie Hallman seven. Draves also collected seven rebounds and Mollie Franzen dished out three assists.
Mount Mercy travels to Clinton this weekend for an MCC matchup with Ashford (3-14, 0-3 MCC) on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Kehl Arena.
