[Men's Basketball] Free throws, 3-point shooting lift Kohawks

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Host Coe shot nearly 60 percent from 3-point range and outscored Mount Mercy by 11 at the free throw line in an 80-69 victory over the 16th-ranked Mustangs on Friday at Eby Fieldhouse.
Mount Mercy (11-3) scored the first seven points of the game, but after that it was all Kohawks. Coe was 14-of-24 from 3-point range, the second-highest single-game total in school history. The Kohawks (7-5) also went 20-of-28 from the foul line while the Mustangs only made 9-of-15 free throw attempts.
In his first start of the season, sophomore guard Bobby Sherwood scored 14 points and dished out three assists. Junior guard Sid Beck finished with 12 points, four rebounds, four assists and five steals. Junior forward Chad Underwood added 11 points and five boards, freshman guard Jake Misener a career-high 10 points.
Coe's David Mataloni hit six treys and scored a game-high 27 points. Andrew Wirth tallied 15 points, five rebounds and three steals, Seth Light 11 points, eight boards and four steals.
Mount Mercy resumes Midwest Collegiate Conference play on Wednesday, hosting Ashford at 7:30 p.m. at Hennessey Recreation Center in Cedar Rapids.
