MARION -- The Metro has its first McDonald's all-American boys' basketball player in almost 30 years.
Linn-Mar senior guard Marcus Paige was officially announced Thursday afternoon as a participant in the prestigious McDonald's All-American Game, which is March 28 at the United Center in Chicago. The North Carolina signee is the first Metro prep to play in the event since Al Lorenzen of Cedar Rapids Kennedy in 1984.
Paige is one of 24 preps from around the nation to be selected for this year's boys' game, as a member of the West roster. He leads Class 4A in scoring at 26.8 points per game.
