Dec. 10, 2021 9:07 pm
CEDAR RAPIDS -- The Kennedy Cougars pressed “replay” on Cedar Rapids Washington. This game followed a familiar script.
Kenzie Reed scored all 15 of his points in the first half, then Colby Dolphin and Carson Blietz carried the torch afterward, and Cedar Rapids Kennedy handled Washington, 71-51, in a Metro boys’ basketball game Friday night at Kennedy High School.
Dolphin led all scorers with 17 points. Blietz tacked on 14.
The victory was Kennedy’s sixth straight against the Warriors, all by double digits.
Kennedy (2-1) never trailed. The Cougars led 16-7 after one quarter, 41-24 at halftime.
Traijan Sain led Washington (1-2) with 15 points. The Warriors were 6 of 17 from the free-throw line.
The game does not count in the Mississippi Valley Conference standings. The rematch, Feb. 4 at Washington, does.
