Jack McCaffery of Iowa City West commits to Butler University men’s basketball program
Months after Patrick McCaffery’s playing career ends at Butler, his younger brother will join the Big East program

Iowa City West senior-to-be Jack McCaffery has verbally committed to play basketball at Butler University in 2025.
McCaffery, the third son of Iowa men’s basketball coach Fran McCaffery to play Division I ball, is a 6-foot-9 forward. He is a 4-star recruit who averaged about 16 points per game.
This spring, Patrick McCaffery transferred to Butler for his final collegiate season after playing 123 games for Iowa over five years.
Their brother, Connor McCaffery, also played for their father at Iowa and now works for in Indianapolis for the NBA’s Indiana Pacers.
Jack McCaffery had a slew of offers from other schools, including Wake Forest, Virginia and Virginia Tech of the ACC. He is 72nd in ESPN’s 2025 men’s basketball recruiting rankings.
Butler, which is in the Big East Conference, is coached by former Ohio State head coach Thad Matta.
