DES MOINES — A look at Tuesday’s games at the Iowa high school girls’ state basketball tournament at Wells Fargo Arena:
No. 3 Center Point-Urbana (21-3) vs. No. 6 Ballard (21-3)
CLASS 3A QUARTERFINAL
Time: 10 a.m.
Coaches: Philip Klett is in his 14th year at CPU, and owns a record of 246-92 there. He is 281-106 in 16 years overall. Kelly Anderson has compiled a 213-50 record in 11 years at Ballard.
Top players: Ryley Goebel (6-0, sr.) paces Center Point-Urbana at 17.7 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 4.2 blocks per game. The Northern Iowa signee shoots 57.2 percent from the field. Nicole Rick (5-11, jr.) and Tayler Reaves (5-6, jr.) add 7.4 and 7.0 points per game, respectively. Brooke Loewe (5-9, sr.) is Ballard’s top scorer at 12.8 points per game, and Meg Rietz (6-0, sr.) adds 10.4 points and 5.7 rebounds per contest.
Tournament history: CPU has qualified for the ninth time, the seventh in the last nine years. The Stormin’ Pointers won a 2A title in 1995 and a 3A crown in 2019. Ballard is making its 18th appearance, its third straight. The Bombers captured the 4A championship last year and also won a 3A title in 2009.

No. 14 Benton Community (19-5) vs. No. 1 Dallas Center-Grimes (20-3)
CLASS 4A QUARTERFINAL
Time: 11:45 a.m.
Coaches: Jeff Zittergruen has compiled a 55-35 record in four years at Benton. Adam Jones has been at DCG for seven years and owns a 115-44 mark.
Top players: Jenna Twedt (5-8, jr.) leads the way for Benton at 18.2 points, 3.7 assists and 3.1 steals. McKenna Kramer (5-7, soph.) is the most prolific 3-point shooter and adds 9.7 ppg. Emma Miner (6-0, jr.) is DCG’s leader at 13.9 points per game. Finley Fitzgerald (5-8, jr.) comes off the bench and scores 7.9 ppg.
Tournament history: Benton is back for the first time since making three straight appearances between 2011 and 2013. The Bobcats are looking for their first state-tournament win. DCG is making its fifth appearance, its second straight.

No. 5 Cedar Rapids Xavier (17-6) vs. No. 7 DeWitt Central (19-4)
CLASS 4A QUARTERFINAL
Time: 1:30 p.m.
Coaches: Xavier Coach Tom Lilly is closing in on another milestone, which he will reach early next season. He is 595-275 in 37 seasons overall, including 406-173 in 24 years at Xavier. Justin Shiltz is in his first year at Central, where he is 19-4. He owns a 150-90 mark overall.
Top players: Libby Fandel (6-0, fr.) has made an immediate impact at Xavier. She averages 13.0 points per game. Kyla Mason (5-11, jr.) spearheads a productive bench at 9.8 points per contest. Allison Meadows (5-8, sr.) and Taylor Veach (5-11, sr.) have been prominent figures for Central since their freshman season. They average 16.4 and 15.0 points per game, respectively.
Tournament history: Xavier is making its 14th appearance, its first since 2019. The Saints have won four championships, most recently in 2013. Central is in the field for the fifth time, the second year in a row. The Sabers won a 3A title in 1994.

No. 6 Iowa City Regina (20-4) vs. No. 4 Panorama (24-1)
CLASS 2A QUARTERFINAL
Time: 8:30 p.m.
Coaches: Mary Rogers is in her third season at Regina, where she has compiled a 48-20 record. Kylee Boettcher is 63-10 in three years at Panorama.
Top players: Regina has four players averaging between 9.8 and 11.4 points per game. Grace Gaarde (5-3, jr.) is the leader, and also posts 5.6 assists per game. Lily Simpson (5-11, sr.) adds 10.8 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. Payton Beckman (5-7, sr.) paces Panorama at 19.9 ppg, and averages 4.9 steals per contest. Laci Rishel (5-7, sr.) adds 10.6 ppg.
Tournament history: Regina is making its eighth appearance, its first since 2018. Panorama has qualified for the seventh time, the first since 2018.
