DES MOINES — A look at Friday’s games at the girls’ state basketball tournament at Wells Fargo Arena:
No. 6 North Linn (23-2) vs. No. 2 Algona Garrigan (23-3)
CLASS 1A SEMIFINAL
Time: 3:15 p.m.
Coaches: Brian Wheatley is in his 18th year at North Linn and owns a 348-86 ledger. Brandon Schwab is 196-81 in 12 years at Garrigan, 235-133 in 16 seasons overall.
Top players: North Linn is led by the backcourt duo of Kamryn Kurt (5-6, soph.) and Macy Boge (5-8, soph.) at 17.6 and 13.7 points per game, respectively. Garrigan’s Audi Crooks (6-3, jr.) averages 23.5 points, 12.5 rebounds and 3.5 blocks per game, shooting 72 percent from the field. Molly Joyce (5-7, jr.) adds 18.0 points and 5.0 assists per contest.
How they got here: North Linn placed four players in double figures and edged No. 3 Springville, 58-56, in the first round. Garrigan whipped No. 7 Burlington Notre Dame, 77-42, behind 32 points and seven rebounds from Crooks.
